Weather is considered an important skill to know. Some people study it to know when to plant, when to get under the roof and hide, and what days to nap outside. We study the wind. The direction doesn't matter so much as what the wind carries on its current.
I'll be perched on my roof, feeling the breeze brush my cheek and carrying the scent of honeysuckle and green things. And I'll know that spring will be arriving that week. The air will occasionally smell of the sea, and I know that the fisherman will be coming to drop off their monthly deliveries of deep sea life to the grocery store. Further away come the smells of big city living, and in no time a bus full of tourists and travelers will trundle by.
Sometimes the air smells of cinnamon and chocolate. And I'll sigh, knowing that it's for me. It's the wind, reminding me of my own dream to travel the world and see what other breezes hold.
